My name is Kenneth Aguilar. I was born and live in Santo Domingo Pueblo, New Mexico. Santo Domingo Pueblo is one of the nineteen Pueblo Indian Nations of New Mexico. I have been making Native American jewelry in the Pueblo style for twenty-five years. I originally learned how to make jewelry from my parents. My father in his days traveled through different states selling jewelry. Today, I see the value in what he did and I carry out my profession in like fashion.
I attended the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and presently work out of my home.
I work with a number of stones that come in from different countries. Some of these are Gaspeite, Lapis, Coral, Sugulite, Opal and Turquoise, which comes from Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico.I also do inlaid work on shells such as Spiney Oyster combined with colorful stones and silver.
I sell my works locally and nationally to museums and stores, and hold exhibitions at Native American jewelry shows.
